Dongfeng shell, whose scientific name is called square plaque Dongfeng shell, belongs to Buccinidae family of new Gastropoda sub-class under hauynophyre Gastropoda class. The shell is of long oval shape with height of 7cm , width of 4cm and whorl of 8 layers. The round shell striations form a shallow and flat shoulder part beside seam. Because shell surface is covered with fine and dense growth striations and shell skin is yellowish-brown with rectangular purple brown plaques, the shell is also known as bailer shell or square plaque bailer shell. The shells live at arenopelitic seabed with water depth of between dozens meters and hundreds meters and are mainly distributed in South China Sea .

    Dongfeng shell is a kind of predatory shell in sea with limited number. The shell mainly eats fish, shrimps and other shell meats. The shells possess very strong living capacity which can survive in temperature of 3 ℃ ～ 38 ℃ and will not die in water even if they don't eat anything for 5 months. Dongfeng shells have not been understood for a long time since they live in “deep world”. Now the shells and abalones are equally famous due to flavored, crispy and tender meat, rich nutrition, existence of huge amount of protein, many kinds of amino acids and no cholesterol.

       Ten years have passed since Hainan Wenchang Yedao Shrimp Fry Farm  was established in 1996 and now total number of staff has reached 15 persons. The farm has been operating under the principle of “Reputation First, No Errors in Quality and Quantity” with breeding and marketing of shrimp fries as its main business scope. Now four shrimp fry farms, namely Yedao, Yehai, Yeli and Yerun, have been developed under the farm with total area of more than 40 mu, breeding water area of 4500 square meters and nine high-level breeding spools. The annual production reaches 1.5 billion fries with high survival rate. Breeding of adult shrimp, Dongfeng shell and abalone , grouper has been newly developed this year in addition to other business such as shrimp feed, young shrimp and shrimp chemicals. The farm's products are well sold locally and other places outside Hainan such as Guangdong , Guangxi and Jiangsu .

      The farm is located at Sangengchi, Yandun, Wenchang City , Hainan Province and it is only about twenty kilometers away from the capital city of Wenchang City. Various kinds of superior shrimp fries have been developed by utilizing such advantage as convenient transportation, good water quality and rich breeding experiences accumulated during the past dozen years. Huge amount of fund was inputted in 2001 to construct four large-scale breeding farms to successfully develop the first and second generation of white American prawn.
